Scrap steel crushing and recycling treatment
At present, the total amount of scrap steel produced annually in the world is 3.5-4.5 billion tons, accounting for approximately 45-50% of the total steel production. Among them, 85-90% is used as steelmaking raw materials, and 10-15% is used for casting, ironmaking, and recycled steel. Therefore, the utilization of scrap steel has attracted widespread attention from society and is known as the "second mining industry". Many countries lack iron ore or the grade of iron ore continues to decline, placing greater emphasis on scrap steel. The supply and sale of scrap steel has become an important international market. Since the 1970s, there has been a significant development in the production of electric furnace steel using scrap steel as raw material in the world, which also indicates that the utilization range of scrap steel is expanding day by day. Due to the extensive application of scrap steel, the current world pig iron production is only 72% of the steel production.
Process flow for crushing and recycling scrap steel and iron
1、 The waste steel treatment method adopts different crushing treatment schemes due to material, shape, and fragility:
1. Extra thick and long large scrap steel shall be cut into qualified dimensions using blasting method and flame cutter;
2. Thick scrap steel plates, sections, and bars are cut using a shearing machine;
3. Scrap sheet scraps, scrap steel wires, waste car shells, and other light materials with a small volume specific gravity are crushed using a metal crusher, as shown in the following video:
After the scrap iron material is crushed into particles, magnetic separation is carried out on the material. Magnetic separation utilizes the magnetism of metal iron to perform magnetic separation on various impurities contained in the crushed scrap iron material, achieving several separation effects of metal iron.
